YouTube suspended on Monday the Canal of the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, for at least seven days, after the president alleged during a transmission that the use of vaccines against COVID-19 could facilitate the development of AIDS.
The video, which was broadcast on the last Thursday in the official account of the President, was also removed because it violates the guidelines of "medical disinformation on the COVID-19" of the platform, as Youtube explained.
"We apply our policies consistently throughout the platform, regardless of who the Creator is or what his political opinion," said the platform in a statement.
Social network spokesmen explained EFE that YouTube opted, in addition, by suspending Bolsonaro's account for at least a week because its channel had already been notified last July on the publication of misinformations about the pandemic.
Thus, because it is a "recidivism", the leader of the Brazilian ultrarage will not be able to publish new videos or make live broadcasts during the next seven days.
It is the first time that a social network suspends Bolsonaro's profile, who has been characterized by his denialism in the face of the seriousness of the Coronavirus pandemic and the effectiveness of vaccines for his combat.
Also on Monday, social networks Facebook and Instagram withdrew from their platforms the video in which Bolsonaro linked the use of Vaccines against Covid to AIDS development.
In one of his live videos last Thursday, the Ultraderechist leader cited an alleged article by the magazine Exame and alleged reports from the British Government, according to which some people vaccinated against the VOCID have been diagnosed with AIDS, to justify his contrary position to Immunization.
"I'm just going to give the news, I'm not going to comment because I already said it in the past and it was very criticized. Bolsonaro's statements generated a wave of criticism from different medical and scientific associations, who quickly denied any link of the Vaccine against Covid and AIDS, and the aim of false news.
They also led Luis Roberto Barroso, Magistrate of the Supreme Court, this Monday request the Public Ministry to open an investigation against the Brazilian president, responding to an order of several opposition parties that urged him to disclose a false and without support association scientific.
The opening denialism of the president has led to the establishment of a parliamentary commission to investigate the government's omissions in the midst of the health emergency, whose final report, which must be voted on Tuesday, accuses Bolsonaro of "Crimes against Humanity" for having Aguvated the crisis.
With more than 605,000 deaths and 21.7 million infected by the Covid-19, Brazil is, in absolute terms, the second country in the world more hit by the pandemic, behind only the United States.
