Last week, a French volunteer was killed in Ukraine, in the Bakhmout region, a hot spot on the front line in eastern Ukraine. Former aid worker Kevin D., soon to be 30, had been away fighting the Russian invader for more than a year. His death, announced by our colleagues from Ouest-France, was confirmed on Friday March 24 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which presented its "condolences to his family". The circumstances of his death are still undetermined.

Several French people also went to Ukraine to fight within an international legion, under the orders of the kyiv army. Their number and those who were killed are not known.

The ministry recalled that Ukraine, "as a whole, is a war zone. In this context, it is strongly advised not to travel to Ukraine, whatever the reason.
