Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - sports manager Jan-Axel Alavaara from the Adler Mannheim would like to fulfill his contract with the club of the German Ice Hockey League, which expires in 2024. At the end of last year, several media reported that Alavaara could leave the eight-time German champions prematurely. "I don't know where that comes from. I've never given rise to such rumors and I love my work in Mannheim," said the 47-year-old Swede in an interview with the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung (Monday).
"We still have a lot to do here because we haven't won anything since 2019," stressed Alavaara. "We were closest in 2020, when the playoffs were canceled due to the Corona outbreak. After that, it was two difficult years in terms of planning. Both because of the drop in salaries and the conditions imposed by the pandemic."
