The central operating room had to be closed due to fly infestation. After several days, those responsible identified water damage due to a clogged roof drain as the cause. The insulating layer of an office room was affected by this and served as a shield for the flies.
According to the information, between 20 and 25 operations had to be postponed or relocated every day during the failure of the central operating room. The clinics in Ellwangen and Mutlangen (both Ostalbkreis) helped to absorb these surgeries.
