Baden-Württemberg: After almost three years: the end of the mask requirement in local transport

For three years it was clear: When boarding buses and trains, a mask must be worn to protect yourself and others from the corona virus. That no longer applies. Although, masks can still not be completely dispensed with on trains.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - With the new Corona regulation, the mask requirement in Baden-Württemberg local transport has been lifted since this Tuesday (January 31) after almost three years. The staff in medical practices can now do without the long-mandated protection. These are the last conditions that the country could decide for itself.

For a few days, the state and federal government will go their separate ways on the rails: while the obligation for local transport has been withdrawn, the mask must be worn in long-distance transport by Deutsche Bahn up to and including Wednesday (February 1st).

Masks have been compulsory in buses and trains in Baden-Württemberg since the end of April 2020. However, it is currently sufficient to recommend wearing mouth and nose protection, especially in publicly accessible indoor areas and in local transport, the Ministry of Health said when the regulation was announced communicated. The federal corona rules are still valid until April 7th, then, according to the current status, the mask requirement for patients and visitors in practices will no longer apply.
