Ludwigsburg (dpa/lsw) - The handball players of the SG BBM Bietigheim also beat the title holder Vipers Kristiansand in the Champions League. The German champions won 32:30 (16:17) against the top team from Norway on Sunday afternoon and now takes the lead in Group A with three wins and one draw.

With Ragnhild Valle Dahl, the Vipers had the best thrower with seven goals. With Karolina Kudłacz-Gloc, Xenia Smits and Trine Østergaard Jensen, three players were successful for the SG six times.

The game in Ludwigsburg was consistently at eye level. Only after the change of sides did Kristiansand pull away (27:24/45.). But Bietigheim did not give up. Coach Markus Gaugisch's team worked their way back up and survived being outnumbered twice in the final phase. With the 32:29 in the 58th minute, Smits made the acclaimed decision.
