Baden-Württemberg: CDU Minister for more immigrants on the labor market

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Economics Minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU) calls on the federal government to remove obstacles to qualified workers from abroad. "Without a targeted immigration of professionally qualified specialists and workers, our economy threatens to suffer from weak growth in the medium term, regardless of economic developments," she told the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Monday).

Among other things, German missions abroad would have to issue visas more quickly, Hoffmeister-Kraut warned, according to the report. With the digitization of administrative services, processes could be made simpler and more customer-friendly.

In addition, nationals from the Western Balkan countries should be granted access to the labor market in Germany beyond 2023. The minister said that the rule, which has been limited so far, is good for the economy in the south-west because it is clearly linked to the labor market. Implementation is a hindrance: the restriction to 25,000 registrations per year must be more closely aligned with the needs of the economy.
