Baden-Württemberg: chase: man arrested without a driver's license

Leonberg (dpa / lsw) - A driver without a license has given himself a dangerous chase with the police on the federal highway 10 near Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. He was provisionally arrested. According to police reports from Tuesday, the 28-year-old first noticed the traffic police in the Engelberg tunnel on the A81 near Leonberg (Böblingen district) the day before because he was driving too fast and overtaking on the right. When he drove onto the federal highway 10 in the direction of Zuffenhausen, the officials signaled for him to follow - but he stepped on the gas.

The police officers followed him with flashing lights and sirens, but stopped the pursuit because it was becoming too dangerous for them and other road users. Witnesses saw the man's car in Korntal-Münchingen (Ludwigsburg district). Officers from the police dog handler unit tracked him down after he fled on foot. He faces charges of illegal motor vehicle racing, endangering traffic and driving without a license. According to tests, he had not consumed drugs or alcohol.
