Bietigheim-Bissingen (dpa/lsw) - The indoor swimming pool in Bietigheim-Bissingen was cleared on Monday evening due to the escape of a chemical. More than a dozen people complained of respiratory irritation, police said. After the fire brigade arrived, it was determined that caustic soda, which is used to clean the water basin, was probably released. Concentrated caustic soda is highly corrosive to the skin.
According to the police, a technical defect is assumed. A total of 14 people complained of slight irritation of the respiratory tract. After an examination by the emergency services, they were able to go home.
