Baden-Württemberg: From now on with the youth ticket Baden-Württemberg through the state

With one euro per day through the Ländle - with the youth ticket Baden-Württemberg this is now possible. Pupils, trainees and students can now use local transport more cheaply and easily.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Driving through the whole of Baden-Württemberg for 365 euros a year has been possible for young people in the state since Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Transport, the youth ticket should make traveling by bus and train cheaper and easier. Anyone under the age of 21 can buy a ticket. Older people are only entitled to do so in training or further education. But in the month of the 27th birthday it's over.

With the youth ticket, pupils, trainees and students can use local transport throughout Baden-Württemberg. The ticket is valid in all 19 transport associations in the country - the only exception is long-distance transport, i.e. a journey with the ICE or IC. At one euro per day, the ticket is cheaper than the Germany ticket, which is also planned and is valid nationwide and will cost 49 euros a month, Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) calculated before the start.

Initially, according to the Ministry of Transport, there was great interest in the youth ticket. Accordingly, many people informed themselves about the ticket in February. Thousands of youth tickets have been sold or transferred in recent weeks. "So far you can't speak of a rush," said the Bodensee-Oberschwaben transport association with a view to advance booking. The association had sold around 10,000 tickets by the end of February.
