Baden-Württemberg: Green-Black wants "compulsory connection" to heating networks

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - As part of the new climate protection law, the green-black coalition wants to push the so-called heat transition with a far-reaching measure. The Greens and the CDU have agreed that municipalities can extend compulsory connection and use of a renewable heat supply to existing buildings. The German Press Agency learned this on Thursday from coalition circles. The Greens and the CDU want to create the legal prerequisites for this and change the municipal code.

Ultimately, however, the decision should lie with the cities and municipalities. If a new infrastructure, such as a heating network, is built, the municipality can then at least force the owners of older properties to have the line laid on their property. Theoretically, these owners can also be obliged to accept the new heat source. However, according to reports, it is rather unlikely that the municipalities will resort to this means.
