Baden-Württemberg: High property damage in a house fire in Gschwend

Gschwend (dpa / lsw) - According to initial police findings, a fire in the garage of a residential building in Gschwend (Ostalbkreis) caused property damage of around 800,000 euros. During cutting work, sparks ignited gasoline in the garage, the police said on Tuesday night. The flames would have spread to the house, the terrace and a parked car on Monday. The house was mostly destroyed. A 41-year-old resident contracted smoke inhalation trying to put out the fire and was taken to a hospital. Four other residents of the house were not injured and were housed in a boarding house. A total of 100 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire.
