Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - SV Waldhof Mannheim would like to overcome the league frustration with a surprise in the DFB Cup. In the second round of the competition, the third division soccer team will meet 1. FC Nürnberg at home on Tuesday (6 p.m. / Sky). With a success, the Mannheimers would make the greatest success in the club's recent history perfect. The Waldhof was last in the round of 16 in the 2002/03 season.
For the ambitious Mannheimers, who are lagging behind their own claims as bottom in the league, a win against the second division would also be attractive from a financial point of view. Because getting ahead would be associated with income of 800,000 euros.
"It's good that we can now focus on another competition," said Waldhof captain Marcel Seegert before the duel, for which more than 15,000 tickets have already been sold.
