Baden-Württemberg: Honorary Film Award for film lovers and supporters Dieter Krauss

He founded cinemas and promoted productions - although he was not in the film industry for a quarter of a century. Now a passionate film lover is to receive a well-known Baden-Württemberg prize.

Stuttgart/Ludwigsburg (dpa/lsw) - Dieter Krauß, film promoter and former commercial director of the Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF), receives the Baden-Württemberg Honorary Film Award. According to the Filmbüro Baden-Württemberg, the undoped award will be presented on December 11, 2022. People are honored who help to shape the media and film location in the southwest and support it in the long term. Krauss is a "builder of the film scene in the southwest who has a firm eye on both the content and the financial side of the industry," the film office explained on Thursday. The cinema fan is committed to a lively film location with heart and soul.

Born in 1958 and raised in Villingen-Schwenningen, the financial specialist and media expert and film lover founded the municipal cinema Guckloch in his hometown and in Furtwangen and is one of the founding fathers of the Baden-Württemberg Film Office with its annual film shows. Krauss, who was mainly involved in banking between 1974 and 1999, also sat on the board of the Federal Association of Municipal Cinemas for nine years, he was involved with the Kinomobil Baden-Württemberg and was a board member of the State Association of Municipal Cinemas.

In recent years, the honorary film prize has been awarded to the costume designer Gudrun Schretzmeier, the actors Walter Schultheiss and Walter Sittler, the author Felix Huby and last year the silent film musician Günter A. Buchwald. This year's film show, the State Film Festival in Stuttgart, will take place from December 7th to 11th.
