Schwieberdingen (dpa/lsw) - The importer of a sesame paste has recalled his product because of salmonella contamination. As the company E-Wah UG from Schwieberdingen (Ludwigsburg district) announced on Thursday, the sesame paste "Tahina (sesame)" from the manufacturer AlBurj with the batch number P: 09/2021 and the best before date 01/2023 in the size 800 grams is affected. The pack size of 400 grams is also being recalled. The company imported the product from Syria and distributed it throughout Baden-Württemberg through other intermediaries.
Salmonella disease usually manifests itself with diarrhoea, abdominal pain and occasionally vomiting and a slight fever. Babies, small children, senior citizens and people with a weakened immune system in particular can develop more severe illnesses.
