Ehingen (dpa / lsw) - Police and public prosecutors are investigating a 36-year-old from the Alb-Donau district for attempted murder and arson. The man is said to have set food packaging on fire in an accommodation in Ehingen at night and placed it in front of a room door, the authorities announced on Wednesday. A witness discovered the fire, put it out and then went back to sleep. "He only reported the incident to the police late on Saturday morning."
The only reason the fire didn't spread was because it was discovered so quickly, the statement said. Prosecutors are classifying the case as attempted murder. The accused was taken to a psychiatric hospital. It was initially unclear what type of accommodation it was.
