Baden-Württemberg: KSC with young keeper: Eichner warns of outsiders

Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) - Second division soccer team Karlsruher SC will most likely put the 18-year-old junior keeper Max Weiß between the posts in the first round of the DFB Cup. "The tendency is that Max will guard the goal on Friday evening," said coach Christian Eichner one day before the game at Oberliga club TSG Neustrelitz (Friday, 6 p.m. / Sky). But that has nothing to do with the goalkeeper performance in the first two league games against Paderborn (0: 5) and Magdeburg (2: 3). "It's not like we got eight goals because Kai Eisele is in goal," emphasized Eichner. Eisele had previously represented Marius Gersbeck, who had an operation on his hand. The comeback of the Karlsruhe regular keeper is getting closer.

Midfielder Leon Jensen, also injured for a long time, will return to the KSC squad in Neustrelitz. According to Eichner, the game is not only economically important, but also offers the chance to take a step forward in sporting terms. At the same time, he warned of the fifth division team: "For me, Neustrelitz is a real men's team, which is also of a size that cannot be uninteresting in games like this." Among other things, his team must be vigilant when it comes to the depth protection and get the opponent running. "It will only work if the team has 100 percent focus," said the 39-year-old.
