Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The uncertain economic prospects are burdening the machine builders in the south-west. In October, orders adjusted for price increases (in real terms) were 14 percent below the value for the same month last year, as the VDMA state association announced on Thursday in Stuttgart. As we move towards the end of the year, orders continue to fall, but the decline is not dramatic.
"Under the impression of a variety of challenges, the investment mood of many customers is currently clouded. The companies are supported by their high order backlog," the association continued.
Order intake in the statistically more stable three-month period from August to October 2022 was 7 percent below the same period of the previous year. From January to October 2022, orders fell by 4 percent.
