Baden-Württemberg: Mechanical engineering records another decline in orders

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Ukraine war and the high energy prices caused machine builders in the southwest to fall again in September in the order intake. Overall, there was a minus of three percent in the books, as the state association of the VDMA announced on Wednesday in Stuttgart. The non-euro countries are currently providing important impetus, but could not prevent incoming orders from being negative for the sixth time in a row. In addition, inflation and significantly weaker growth in China are currently weighing on the industry's outlook.

In September, orders received in Germany were twelve percent down on the previous year's result, while foreign orders were up slightly by one percent, as the association announced. "As in August, it was the non-euro countries with growth of eight percent that provided the impetus." The euro partner countries missed their previous year's result by eleven percent.
