Baden-Württemberg: PWO Group: CO2 reduction planned by 2030

Many companies are committed to sustainability, save greenhouse gases and also pay attention to climate protection in other ways. How important it is to the PWO group from Ortenau, she wants to show in Egypt soon.

Oberkirch (dpa/lsw) - The automotive supplier PWO from Oberkirch in the Ortenau district is taking part in this year's world climate conference in Egypt. As a member of the so-called Global Vision 2045 - a format at the international meeting in November for companies committed to sustainability - the PWO Group also wants to give this topic even more impetus, CEO Carlo Lazzarini announced on Tuesday. "Our entire industry needs to understand that the time to act has long since arrived."

By 2030, PWO wants to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases from its own sources and from purchased energy by at least 46 percent. In the case of indirect emissions from other companies along the value chain, the reduction should be at least 28 percent, as Progress-Werk Oberkirch AG further announced.

The PWO Group has had a sustainability strategy for years and employs around 3,000 people at eight locations on three continents, who manufacture, among other things, airbag components and rotor housings. Last year, PWO achieved a profit of 14.7 million euros after a loss of 11.7 million euros in 2020. Revenue increased year-on-year from 371.2 million to 404.3 million euros.
