Baden-Württemberg: Regulatory Control Council: State wants to reorganize expert panel

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After five years, the Regulatory Control Council of Baden-Württemberg is about to end in its previous form. The term of office of the incumbent council expires at the end of the year and will not be extended, as the German Press Agency in Stuttgart learned on Friday from government circles. The Regulatory Control Council should therefore be reorganized in terms of content and personnel and better "interlocked" with the state government's measures to reduce bureaucracy, it said. There is talk of a "relaunch" which is to be developed together with the members to be appointed in the first quarter.

The Regulatory Control Council started work in the southwest in 2018 to advise and support politicians as an independent body of experts in reducing bureaucracy. The Council consists of six honorary members and is based at the State Ministry. The head of the body is the former member of parliament Gisela Meister-Scheufelen (CDU).

Violent criticism of the body is being leveled behind the scenes. The Council was reportedly unable to live up to expectations. The Regulatory Control Council only criticizes and makes no concrete suggestions for improvements, it said. The cooperation was poor. Bureaucracy was commented on, but not reduced. Therefore, the Council has not received any attention in the state government and state parliament, according to the criticism according to dpa information.
