Baden-Württemberg: Southwest: Associations report concerns about property tax rules

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Several associations have registered constitutional concerns about the property tax reform in the southwest. Four associations, including the Baden-Württemberg Association of Taxpayers and the House Owners' Association

According to their own statements, the associations support the lawsuit of a married couple. This stands for a pattern that affects many owners. A corresponding lawsuit was received by the Baden-Württemberg Finance Court on Thursday, a spokeswoman said.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Finance said that a lawsuit was to be expected - such lawsuits had also been announced in other federal states. The state has obtained legal expertise for its state property tax law in advance and continues to assume that the model is legal. Preliminary real estate tax assessments are not provided.

The new property tax will be due from 2025. The country relies on a so-called modified land value model. It provides that the plot area and the so-called standard land value should be the basis for the future calculation of the tax.
