Baden-Württemberg: Strobl distances itself from a union of values

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - CDU state leader Thomas Strobl has energetically distanced himself from the ultra-conservative value union and its political content. "These are people we don't even go out for a coffee with," said the Baden-Württemberg interior minister on Friday at a panel discussion on right-wing populism as part of Catholic Days in Stuttgart. The Union of Values does not belong to the CDU.

She has nothing to do organizationally with the CDU and not politically in many questions, emphasized Strobl. It is about individuals - and there are far fewer than it appears publicly. He also has the impression that the union of values is playing an ever smaller role, which he is not angry about.

The Union of Values, which it says has around 4,000 members, sees itself as representing the conservative current in the Union, but is not an official party structure.
