Baden-Württemberg: Tübingen gets ecological forest toilet for hikers

The older ones among us still remember the outhouses of their grandparents. Hikers in Tübingen can now use an ecological variant of this.

Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - Hikers in Tübingen can now do the unavoidable visit to the toilet in an ecological forest toilet. Today the dry toilet above the Unterjesingen district of Tübingen will be released. The pilot project was initiated by Mayor Michael Rak. "A toilet paper syndrome had developed along the six-kilometer route on the circular hiking trail," said Rak as a reason. The toilet is located in the Obere Gôgenhalde area and will be tested for six months. Dry toilets, which are used in Africa, among other places, served as a model. Unterjesingen bears the costs for the test of around 200 euros per month from the local budget.
