Baden-Württemberg: Verdi is again calling for warning strikes at university clinics

Tübingen (dpa / lsw) - In the collective bargaining dispute over the payment of employees at the university clinics in the state, the Verdi union has again called for warning strikes. The employee representatives want to increase the pressure before the third and last round of negotiations on Thursday next week, as a Verdi spokesman announced on Tuesday in Tübingen.

According to the union, there will be a strike from Monday to Thursday at the university hospitals in Tübingen, Freiburg, Heidelberg and Ulm. "We made a conscious decision to now, with a four-day warning strike, make it unmistakably clear to employers that we want to achieve a good deal for employees in the third round," said negotiator Irene Gölz.

The union calls for an improved offer for the approximately 26,000 employees at the university hospitals. Among other things, Verdi demands 10.5 percent more money for medical-technical assistants as well as nursing and administrative staff, but at least 375 euros more per month; the term should be twelve months. The offer from the Employers' Association of the Baden-Württemberg Uniklinika (AGU) initially provided for a tax-free one-off payment of 2100 euros and an increase in salaries by six percent in two stages from January 2024.

The negotiations are about employees whose employment is covered by the Uniklinika Baden-Württemberg collective agreement. Doctors or scientific staff fall under other collective agreements.
