Baden-Württemberg: VfB plans are gaining momentum: Perea signs

VfB Stuttgart is pushing ahead with its personnel planning. First he ties a top talent from his own offspring, then the striker Perea signs. It is still open whether coach Matarazzo and another newcomer will be present at the training camp in the Allgäu.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After initially quiet weeks on the transfer market, VfB Stuttgart's personnel planning for the coming season is picking up speed. As the Bundesliga soccer club announced on Friday, Colombian striker Juan José Perea is the first external newcomer to join Stuttgart from the Greek first division club PAS Ioannina. The 22-year-old signed a contract until June 30, 2026. According to media reports, the Stuttgart team will transfer a transfer fee of around 2.2 million euros to northern Greece. Perea made 33 competitive appearances for Ioannina last season, scoring ten goals and providing four assists.

"Juan José Perea brings a lot of speed and a great offensive drive to our game. He can act at speed on the wings as well as play in the center of the attack," said VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat. VfB need action in attack after Omar Marmoush's loan ended and the Egyptian returned to VfL Wolfsburg. In addition, goalscorer Sasa Kalajdzic is still expected to leave.

The 1.81 meter tall Perea is already going to the one-week training camp in Weiler-Simmerberg in the Allgäu on Saturday. From there, the team will immediately travel to Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, where they will play a friendly against Swiss champions FC Zurich on Saturday evening (5:30 p.m.).

The attacker may not yet meet his coach Pellegrino Matarazzo there - at least not in person. After a corona infection, it is still unclear whether the 44-year-old can test himself in time to be with the team from the start of the training camp. What is certain, however, is that the Croatian international Borna Sosa will initially be missing there. The left-back continues to suffer from adductor problems and is completing an individual development program. He may be traveling soon.

The U21 national player Josha Vagnoman may already be there in the Allgäu. The full-back is apparently close to signing with VfB. According to media reports, second division club Hamburger SV will receive a transfer fee of around 3.7 million euros for the 21-year-old. It could increase by up to 800,000 euros due to possible bonus payments.

The Stuttgart have already signed the new contract with their 17-year-old midfield top talent Laurin Ulrich. According to information from "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" and "Stuttgarter Zeitung", the contract with the junior international should be extended until June 30, 2026, as soon as Ulrich turns 18 next January. He is also preparing for the coming season with the pros.
