Millions of people celebrated the turn of the year at countless New Year's Eve parties and were able - like before - to let it rip: After two years of the Corona compulsory break, firecrackers and rockets were allowed again this time - unless there were local exceptions, for example to protect old half-timbered houses. In addition to fire protection and environmental reasons, the aspect of safety also plays a role: Before Corona, for example, rockets were repeatedly fired in the direction of groups of people or rescue workers.
In addition to many private celebrations, a large party for up to 20,000 people was planned on Schlossplatz in downtown Stuttgart. Because there are always accidents when setting off fireworks, the hospitals in the country expected additional patients.
