Battle name "Ava Rain": Dwayne Johnson's daughter becomes a wrestler

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, they say. And so daughter Simone is now following her father Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson into the wrestling circus. And not just him: her grandfather and great-grandfather have also fought in the ring.

The 21-year-old marched into the WWE ring for the first time Tuesday night as "Ava Rain." During the airing of the show "NXT", dedicated to the next generation of WWE stars, Simone was announced as a member of the wrestling group Schism. She initially stood in the background with a yellow smiley face mask and a red hooded sweatshirt, until she swore allegiance to her team, which was much acclaimed.

"The love and acceptance that Schism shows me defies all preconceived notions of who I should be," she said. "This family completes me."

Simone Johnson is the first fourth-generation wrestler in WWE history. She succeeds her father, who retired from the organization in 2004, her grandfather, "Soul Man" Rocky Johnson, and her great-grandfather, Prince Peter Maivia aka "The High Chief". Simone's great-grandmother, Lia Maivia, was one of the very first female wrestling promoters.

Simone Johnson made her debut in 2020, but her debut was delayed due to injury. She had to undergo surgery for a knee injury.

Her father has always emphasized how proud he is of her. As the fourth generation, she "wrote history," said the 50-year-old "Entertainment Tonight" back in July. "She's incredibly independent. It's very important for her to make her own way. Make her own way. Make her own path. She doesn't come to me expecting much and I respect that. And I'm here watching and supporting them."

In addition to his acting career, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has also made occasional WWE appearances. On October 4, 2019, however, he finally ended his career in and around the ring with an appearance on the wrestling show "SmackDown", which was celebrating its 20th anniversary.
