Bavaria: After the Sparkasse affair: cuts for other civil servants

Munich (dpa/lby) - After the Miesbacher savings bank affair, there are financial consequences for a second official: The remuneration of the then member of the savings bank supervisory board will be reduced, as the administrative court in Munich announced on Tuesday evening.

The Bavarian state prosecutor's office reduced the disciplinary measure against the retired official after a corresponding note from the judge on Tuesday during the hearing: Instead of the original reduction in pension by a tenth for a period of 18 months, it is now only for 14 months, according to the court. According to the court, the retired civil servant was in agreement with this, so that the lawsuit has been finally concluded.

Earlier on Tuesday, the mayor of the municipality of Kreuth, Bierschneider (CSU), who is still in office today, had his salary reduced by a tenth for 18 months.

The financial consequences for the ex-CSU district administrator Jakob Kreidl, who was convicted of the affair, could be much more drastic, and the state prosecutor wants to cancel his entire pension. In May of this year, the Munich II Regional Court sentenced him to a suspended sentence in a second trial for breach of trust, as did the former CEO of Sparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee, Georg Bromme. It was initially unclear when Kreidl's case would be heard before the administrative court.

The loose handling of savings bank funds caused a stir in the Miesbach district almost ten years ago and raised corresponding allegations of breach of trust. The spouses also traveled to board meetings in five-star hotels, and there was an attractive tourist program, among other things.
