Munich (dpa / lby) - Andreas Beck has extended his contract as director of the Bavarian State Theater in Munich by five years. The Ministry of Art announced on Wednesday in Munich that he would stay until the end of the 2028/2029 season. Art Minister Markus Blume (CSU) praised Beck's willingness to take risks and his creative potential, especially during the corona pandemic. "He has succeeded in developing a clear programmatic signature with digital formats and a wide range of new productions and in opening up the theater stage for new audience groups."
Beck has been at the helm of the Bavarian State Theater since September 2019, which plays in the Residenztheater and the Cuvilliéstheater, among others. Previously, he was artistic director at the Theater Basel and artistic director and managing director at the Schauspielhaus Wien.
