Bavaria: Authority: In every third beer mug there was not enough beer

Munich (dpa / lby) - Visitors to the Oktoberfest apparently had too little beer in the beer mug this year. In random samples by the responsible authority, the Munich district administration department (KVR), a so-called Unterschank was found in a good 31 percent, the KVR announced on Thursday. First, the local newspaper "tz" reported on the result.

Unterschank is therefore present when the jug is filled to less than 15 millimeters below the calibration mark, which indicates the amount of one liter. At the previous Oktoberfest in 2019, this was only the case for 18 percent and in 2018 for 14 percent of the rehearsals. For this year's controls, the KVR evaluated 825 beers.

Even the samples within the tolerance range were by no means always completely filled up to the calibration mark: the testers were only served the full liter in a good 14 percent of the samples.

When asked, the KVR did not answer whether cases of drinking in certain tents had increased. The spokesman for the Wiesn landlords had already been invited to a meeting during ongoing operations. The landlord of the Armbrustschützenzelt, Peter Inselkammer, explained the mistake to the "tz" with the fact that in many cases inexperienced staff had poured the beer. The KVR stated that the authority would "approach the landlords early before the next Oktoberfest so that the result will improve again in 2023".
