Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - A driver was seriously injured when his vehicle collided with the steel frame of a bridge underpass in Magdeburg. On Wednesday morning, the 54-year-old forgot to retract the electrically operated telescopic arms of his vehicle, which can be used to transport containers, after finishing his work, the police said on Thursday. Accordingly, he drove off with the vehicle that was too high and collided with the bridge underpass.
There was "no substantial damage" to the steel structure and the driver was taken to the hospital. The accident happened on the B1 near Universitätsplatz. There were traffic restrictions.
