Munich (dpa / lby) - Barbara Mundel remains director of the Munich Kammerspiele. The city council decided on Wednesday to extend the contract with her until 2028, the Munich city theater announced on Thursday.
Barbara Mundel has been director of the Kammerspiele since 2019. The starting conditions of the directorship in the corona pandemic were difficult, said the second mayor, Katrin habenschaden (Greens), according to the announcement. However, Mundel developed digital formats during the theater closures and "experienced an incredible joy in playing when the audience was finally allowed to come to the Munich Kammerspiele again".
"It is important to me to develop theater for many together with many," said Mundel, according to the announcement. She sees the Stadttheater as an open house. "This is only possible in contact, in dialogue, in cooperation. Let us inspire you, discuss with us and discover what theater can be - a unique experience."
