Baden-Württemberg: State does not extend pandemic-related exceptions

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - Despite the tense staffing situation in the daycare centers, the state is not extending the corona-related exceptions for the number of educators per group. Because of the pandemic, the Ministry of Culture had allowed that if up to a fifth of the skilled workers were absent, they could be replaced one-to-one by non-pedagogical helpers. This regulation expires at the end of August, the German press agency learned on Thursday from the green-black coalition. Instead, in the future, missing educators are to be replaced by twice the number of non-pedagogical staff.

At the same time, the state wants to start a program for direct entrants in order to recruit workers for the day care centers more quickly. The municipalities had urgently called for the special rules to be extended, otherwise there would be a "collapse".
