Bavaria: Bavaria's industrial and trading companies are gaining more trainees

Munich (dpa/lby) - In the Bavarian industrial, commercial and service companies, 46,256 people started dual vocational training this year - a good 2.3 percent more than in the previous year. The President of the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BIHK), Klaus Josef Lutz, said on Friday that "the training of their own young skilled workers is the top priority for companies. Despite the challenging economic situation, their willingness to train remains high." Many training positions are still open. "Applications are still possible without any problems".

In order to attract young people to training, many companies are offering more student internships, and a good third offer additional financial incentives. The Chambers of Industry and Commerce represent around 60 percent of all training relationships in Bavaria and look after almost 30,000 training companies. By the end of September, 24,533 trainees had started in the Bavarian trades - 14 fewer than in the previous year.
