The Bavarian Television Prize was awarded under a new name in Munich on Wednesday. The award winners range from fiction and comedy productions to documentaries and talk formats.

The documentary "Wirecard - The Billion Lie" won in the Information/Journalism category. The jury justified their decision by saying that the film is an "outstanding crime thriller" and "a sensational, excellently researched documentary film". Peter Kurth won the Blue Panther for best actor for his role in "Ferdinand von Schirach - Faith". Kurth thanked the writer von Schirach from the stage: "I'm a big fan from the start. When the offer came and I read the script - that was a very happy moment."

Other prizes went to Olli Dittrich ("I was Angela Merkel: The Zahlemann Protocol"), Soma Pysall ("Para - We Are King"), Joko Winterscheidt ("Who is stealing the show from me?") and director Julia von Heinz ( "Eldorado KaDeWe"). The audience award for the most popular series went to "Die Discounter".

Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had already presented the special prize for the "Blue Panther" to Arnold Schwarzenegger in September. This year's honorary award goes to moderator Markus Lanz. The award ceremony took place as part of the Munich Media Days (October 18 to 20) and was scheduled to be broadcast on BR television on Wednesday from 10 p.m.
