Augsburg (dpa / lby) - FC Augsburg fears a longer break for midfielder Niklas Dorsch. The 24-year-old broke his metatarsus during preparation and has been absent from the Bundesliga soccer team ever since. The 2021 U-21 European champion then made his comeback for the Augsburg regional league team against FC Pipinsried on Friday, but had to be substituted after just 16 minutes.
Dorsch "probably injured his foot again," the club said. According to managing director Stefan Reuter, the strong professional will be examined on Monday. The 1990 world champion reported swelling in cod on Saturday after the Bundesliga game against VfL Wolfsburg. But Reuter hopes that "it won't be that difficult". Another loss of cod would be "extremely bitter".
