Bavaria: Corona and hardly any spare parts: Agilis deletes connections

Regensburg (dpa / lby) - The private railway operator Agilis is canceling some connections due to many illnesses among the staff and delivery bottlenecks for spare parts. Until the autumn school holidays, which begin on October 31, a reduced timetable will apply in the so-called central network, which includes regional routes around the Regensburg hub, the company announced on Tuesday. The routes from Ulm via Ingolstadt to Regensburg and from Neumarkt/Upper Palatinate to Plattling are affected by the restrictions.

The company justifies the step in particular with the many corona infections. An attempt was made to prevent the wave of illnesses in autumn with more employees. "But like many other transport companies, we can only escape the effects of the wave of illness to a limited extent," said Agilis Managing Director Axel Hennighausen.

Another problem he mentioned was defective traction units that had to be left standing for lack of spare parts. Many branches of industry are currently affected by such material bottlenecks. "We can only influence to a very limited extent how quickly the spare parts will be available," said Hennighausen.
