Bavaria: Ingolstadt extended with national ice hockey player Pietta

Ingolstadt (dpa/lby) - ERC Ingolstadt has pushed ahead with its squad planning and extended its contract with national ice hockey player Daniel Pietta by two years. "There aren't many German centers of Daniel's quality. He's our strongest face-off player, has a lot of vision and always has an eye for his team-mates," said ERC sports director Tim Regan, explaining further cooperation with the 36-year-old on Wednesday.

According to the club, Pietta is the fourth best scorer in the history of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) with 720 points. The striker has played 40 games so far this season, and in December he was on the ice for the 900th time in the DEL.

For the native of Krefeld, Ingolstadt is now a second home. "It's great fun to play on this team and a structure has been put in place that will allow us to play hockey successfully in the future," said Pietta.
