Washington / Gersthofen (dpa / lby) - The Bavarian manufacturer of fuel cell trucks Quantron has received a major order from the USA. According to the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, it is to deliver 500 heavy fuel cell trucks to the American logistics company TMP Logistics. The framework agreement for this will be signed at the Hydrogen Americas Summit in Washington and in the presence of Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (free voters).

The order includes the trucks as a service - i.e. their provision, maintenance and fuel. According to the ministry, a volume of almost one billion euros will come together over several years.

Aiwanger praised the signing as an "important industrial policy opportunity". In the USA alone, the demand for heavy fuel cell trucks is estimated at up to 300,000 vehicles by 2030. "This Bavarian-American framework agreement marks the start of close transatlantic cooperation in the promising market for climate-neutral mobility."

Quantron announced its expansion into North America on Tuesday. By 2025, the Swabians want to generate around half of their sales there.
