Saxony-Anhalt: Seven applications for a 365-day ticket in Saxony-Anhalt

Use public transport for one euro a day? Saxony-Anhalt wants to test this in two regions. However, the start should not take place until the second half of 2023.

Magdeburg (dpa/sa) - Seven applications from districts and independent cities have been submitted in Saxony-Anhalt for the 365-day ticket model project. This was announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure on request. A decision on the award should be made by early 2023 at the latest. The concepts are now being examined, said a spokesman.

In spring, the state parliament decided to test a 365-day ticket. The use of local public transport for the equivalent of one euro a day is to be tested in two regions: in an independent city and in rural areas. The application deadline was September 30th. A total of nine municipalities took part. An application has been submitted in cooperation with two rural districts and one urban district.

However, the pilot phase for the 365-day ticket is not scheduled to begin until the second half of 2023. The application deadline had been extended by a quarter of a year at the request of the municipalities, and the Ministry of Infrastructure announced that it was no longer possible to start earlier. "At the same time, the developments regarding the successor to the 9-euro ticket will of course be taken into account in the further process."
