Bavaria: Man drives at almost 100 kilometers per hour in piles of sand

Immenstetten (dpa / lby) - Instead of taking the detour, a man drove into a construction site in the Amberg district and crashed into a pile of sand at almost 100 kilometers per hour. The 20-year-old driver was not injured, but the car was badly damaged, police said on Tuesday. The damage is estimated at 40,000 euros.

According to the information, the visibility conditions were not optimal on Monday morning, as it was still dusk and a little foggy. The detour to the roundabout under construction near Immenstetten (Amberg-Sulzbach district) was well signposted, said a police spokesman. The man was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Since the construction site area does not count as public traffic, the driver is spared a fine.
