Bavaria: pleadings in the trial against ex-elderly nurses

Regensburg (dpa / lby) - For an attack on a senior with dementia, a 24-year-old former geriatric nurse is to be jailed for two years and ten months according to the will of the Regensburg public prosecutor. The prosecutor accused the man on Tuesday before the regional court in the Upper Palatinate city of dangerous bodily harm and mistreatment of wards. In his plea, the defense attorney assumed simple physical harm and saw a suspended sentence of between six and twelve months as appropriate. Both sides demanded that the accused be placed in a psychiatric facility.

According to the investigation, the 24-year-old pressed a pillow on the face of a 68-year-old resident in Cham in February. When a colleague of the nurse came into the room, the man let go of the victim. The senior suffered no permanent damage. As a result, 15 deaths in the nursing home were checked and three bodies were exhumed. According to the investigative authorities, a suspicion against the 24-year-old had not been substantiated.
