Bavaria: Power failure in the Werneck district hospital

Werneck (dpa / lby) - After a power failure on the grounds of the Werneck district hospital in Lower Franconia, the police secured the facility on Sunday with a large contingent as a precaution. "In order to ensure the safety of the patients and the population, the police were on site with a large number of emergency services," said the police headquarters in Lower Franconia.

According to the police, safety in the particularly relevant area of forensics, i.e. the patients housed under criminal law, was never endangered. The emergency power systems of the safety facilities would have continued to function. The usual daily routines on the hospital grounds could have been maintained, so that there was no unrest among the patients.

In addition to the forces of the Lower Franconian police, the riot police from Würzburg and a police helicopter were also deployed.

The power outage lasted from just after 7 a.m. to around 2:30 p.m. Technicians from the hospital managed to supply the building with electricity again.

It is not yet known what caused the power outage.
