"Where honor is given to God and religion is not only functionalized politically, there can also be peace on earth," said the bishop, according to the speech manuscript, also with a view to Russia and the suffering Ukraine.

Voderholzer requested peace for Ukraine in particular, but also for the whole "world that is so often under the shadow of death."
