Bavaria: scramble because of the Ethiopia conflict at the reading in Nuremberg

Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - At an author's reading in Nuremberg, at which the Ethiopian ambassador to Germany Mulu Solomon Bezuneh was present as a guest, there were scuffles on Saturday. A German with Ethiopian roots was hit in the face and bumped into by previously unknown persons, the police said on Monday. The ambassador was able to leave the event safely.

Earlier, a group of 50 people tried to gain entry to the event, apparently to protest Ethiopian government policies. However, the group was not admitted, the police watched them to prevent further action.

An armed conflict is raging in the Tigray region of Ethiopia. There Ethiopian government troops and militias of the deposed regional government of Tigray face each other on the one hand. It's about more autonomy for the region in the north. A severe drought is also plaguing the country.
