Bavaria: Shredder system cuts off the foot of a 65-year-old

Karlstadt (dpa / lby) - A 65-year-old was seriously injured during repair work on a shredder plant in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart. The man turned off the machine on a company premises in Karlstadt and then climbed into the hopper, the police reported on Saturday. The still-rotating blades caught his feet and severed his right forefoot. His work colleagues dialed the emergency number on Friday. A rescue helicopter flew the 65-year-old to a clinic.
