Bavaria: "This is madness": debacle for Nuremberg in Heidenheim

The "Club" fans are angry. 1. FC Nürnberg experienced a disaster in Heidenheim. After the 0: 5 beating there is an alarm mood in Franconia.

Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - The Nuremberg fans were fed up, coach Markus Weinzierl was completely served. The helpless "club" experienced a debacle in the 2nd Bundesliga. The defensively confused Weinzierls team was mercilessly punished on Sunday at 0:5 (0:3) by 1. FC Heidenheim and after this performance has to worry about staying up in the league.

Forward Tim Kleindienst scored his team's first four goals (19th minute/23rd/39th/81st). Marnon Busch (86th) put the final point against Nürnberger, who were outnumbered for almost an hour after a red card for gross fouls against Enrico Valentini (34th). "It wasn't just any mistake today. It's crazy," said Captain Christopher Schindler after his eleventh defeat of the season.

"We are brutally disappointed. Nobody could match the performance we discussed. You can't survive like that against a strong opponent at home," said Weinzierl, summing up the disaster in Heidenheim.

In this form, 1. FC Nürnberg has to worry about staying up. Weinzierl's team is 13th in the table with 22 points, but is only two points ahead of relegation rank 16. Next Saturday, FCN will receive the bottom of the table from Sandhausen in a crisis duel.

"We have to pull ourselves together quickly in the week to straighten that out against Sandhausen. We're the ones who have to get even closer together in order to achieve better results," said sporting director Dieter Hecking. "We don't need to discuss the fact that the fans aren't satisfied, I agree with them. We owe it to them."

Kleindienst was there for the first time after 19 minutes because Jan Gyamerah failed to clear the ball. He also benefited from an individual error with his second goal. This time Jens Castrop made a mistake and the scorer was left alone at the far post to make it 3-0. At this point, Nuremberg were already outnumbered after Valentini saw the red card after kicking Jan-Niklas Beste.

Even after the change of sides, there was far too little from the guests to initiate a turnaround. The Heidenheimer managed the lead before Kleindienst added again. He was substituted immediately afterwards. But FCH didn't have enough, Busch also took advantage of Nuremberg's loss of the ball.

"We lost the game in the first half. Everything we had planned was thrown overboard relatively early on," said Captain Schindler. "We wanted to show character in the second half. But then Heidenheim didn't play that forward either, that's also part of the truth. The fact that two more goals were scored is just bad."
