Bavaria: Thunderstorms and showers follow the midsummer weather

If you are planning a trip to Bavaria this weekend, you should not forget your rain jacket. It's getting wet. Heavy rain is also possible. The end of midsummer is slowly in sight.

Offenbach/Munich (dpa/lby) - It will be wet in Bavaria on the last 9-euro ticket weekend: almost everywhere, the meteorologists are expecting rain and thunderstorms. The German Weather Service (DWD) is already forecasting a tendency to showers and thunderstorms for Friday. Temperatures will soon be late summer.

While the western half of Bavaria will get the most sun on Friday, showers are expected in the eastern half of Bavaria and later also in northern and southern Bavaria. The temperatures in the east are expected to be around 24 degrees. In the direction of the Lower Rhine, on the other hand, it gets hot again with up to 31 degrees.

It will be cloudier on Saturday, the warm, humid air and low air currents will favor thunderstorms and heavy rain. But there shouldn't be any flooding. "As things stand today, this is not comparable to the sometimes heavy heavy rains of last week," explained DWD meteorologist Guido Wolz. Showers are possible in the morning - into the night. The temperatures are expected to be between 22 and 27 degrees.

It will then gradually become drier on Sunday. Thunderstorms are still possible, especially in the direction of the Alps, showers in the north are not excluded.

The days are shorter now and therefore not as hot: "The peak of heat waves, like the ones we experienced in Bavaria this summer, has actually already passed. Late summer temperatures can already be expected next week," says Wolz. However, brief rises in temperature are always possible, even up to the end of September.
