Heiligenstadt (dpa/lby) - Over the course of a year, unknown persons damaged and knocked over several gravestones in a Jewish cemetery in the Bamberg district. According to the police, the perpetrators ripped out a total of five gravestones and removed markings from the cemetery in Heiligenstadt.
So far, according to a police spokeswoman on Monday, little is known about the individual acts. They were only discovered later. A case was last reported last Friday. According to the police, it is likely that the same perpetrators could have been involved because the tombstones were damaged in a similar way.
A political motive could not be ruled out, the police had announced on Saturday. The police are now investigating. The amount of property damage has not yet been determined.
